About the day

Saturday 24th September 2016

National Declutter Day has now evolved into International Declutter Day, and this positive event encourages people around the world to:

  1. Declutter to feel good
  2. Donate to charity
  3. Reuse and recycle

Founded in 2011 by Breda Stack, The Declutter Therapist of Declutter Therapy, Breda is on a mission to create awareness around the many little-known benefits of decluttering.

So much more than putting old or broken objects into refuse bags. decluttering is therapeutic process that often requires a change in mindset. Further to the personal rewards of decluttering, others also gain from our unwanted items. Donating to charity and reusing and recycling benefit worthy causes and our environment.

Join International Declutter Day, Saturday 24th September 2016 by entering your details at the top of this page and you’ll also receive Breda’s free decluttering videos and articles!

Protect our beautiful environment by reusing and recycling your unwanted items after decluttering. Enjoy giving your good-condition items to other individuals or groups, upcycling materials or fabrics into items you love and recycling objects which may be unsuitable for passing on.

International Declutter Day is proud to team up with environmentally-conscious services around the world. Get the best out of the process by taking action with your unwanted items as soon as you’ve decluttered.

Declutter to feel good

Breda Stack, The Declutter Therapist of Declutter Therapy, teaches and motivates you to break free from the overwhelm of physical, mental and emotional clutter so you can enjoy a simpler, happier life. Champion of ‘Declutter to feel good’, Breda creates awareness of the many benefits of decluttering in the areas of home, family, social, career, finance and wellbeing.

A nature lover with a passion for good causes, Breda founded National Declutter Day in 2011 to tie together the different aspects of her work and highlight the win-win nature of decluttering. With people around Ireland and the rest of the world embracing the day (and some even decluttering for the first time in their lives!), Breda made the decision in 2015 to extend the event globally through International Declutter Day.

Breda uniquely focuses on the crucial mindset aspect as well as the practical side of decluttering so people can overcome their blocks and make successful, long-term change. Breda helps clients and students around the world to “Let It Go” through her free decluttering tips, online and in-person decluttering services, Declutter Therapy book and online decluttering courses.
